Milperra’s Vale of Ah Reserve is to receive a major upgrade.
Mayor of Bankstown Khal Asfour said local sports teams were in for a big surprise when they returned for competition on the playing fields in September. He said improvements to the value of $650,000 would transform the Reserve.
Works are to include the resurfacing and reshaping of the playing fields, installation of new drainage and irrigation systems, and the establishment of three synthetic cricket pitches, Asfour said.
The popularity of the venue has led to the fields experiencing a great deal of wear and tear, according to the Mayor, who added the improvements would return the reserve to optimum condition.
Mayor Asfour said sporting Calendars of local players who would normally have played on the field during the winter months will be amended for play at nearby fields until the works have been completed. These include Touch Football and Oztag fixtures.
Flyer and newsletter printing has been implemented to make as many people as possible aware of the works, which are scheduled for completion in July.
As part of a $12m investment in facilities within Bankstown City’s parks and recreation areas, further works to be completed in 2016 are to include several new playgrounds, facility upgrades at Middleton Park and a new off-leash park for dogs at Band Hall Reserve.
