The people producing ‘TINA – The Tina Turner Musical’ have just announced that Tim Omaji will be performing as Tina's husband Ike Turner.
The musical will be premiering at the Theatre Royal Sydney in May, and Tim Omaji joins up and coming star Ruva Ngwena in her role as Tina Turner.
Tim Omaji is a well-known actor, dancer, singer and performer, boasting several successes on both the theatre stage and the big screen. Some of his theatre performances include the likes of the ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical’, ‘Fame The Musical’, and ‘Saturday Night Fever’.
Also known by the name 'Timomatic', he is a platinum selling recording artist, but stays humble and grateful:
"The Tina Turner story is one of triumph over immense tragedy and I am honoured to take up the gauntlet from the amazing Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, who won the Olivier Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Ike in the original West End production.”
The stage show TINA debuted in London's West End in April 2018 and is still breaking records. It has also travelled to the Broadway stage and other stages in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and North America.
Theatre-goers in Sydney and surrounding areas such as Milperra can see the show this May at the Theatre Royal Sydney. If it's anything like the West End version, Australians can expect to see the use of poster printing to advertise this anticipated show.
