Swimming instructors from Milperra and throughout the Canterbury-Bankstown area are being invited to apply to teach swim school classes at the five Leisure and Aquatic Centres in 2017.
A council spokesman said council was seeking about 20 swim instructors in January 2017 to meet the expected summer season demand.
Since July, Sabrina Tran has been a swim instructor at the Max Parker Leisure and Aquatic Centre and she couldn’t imagine anything better.
She said swimming is a popular inclusion of summer holiday Calendars everywhere and her role as an instructor gives her both an opportunity to have a useful impact on the lives of children taking part while also being able to spend her days in the pool.
Ms. Tan cited the ability to develop the swimming skills of her young charges and see them progress and achieve their individual goals as making the job so rewarding.
In addition to training young children, swim instructors will also have an opportunity to work on honing swimming strokes with older students, she said.
Interested instructors will need to enjoy conducting lessons in the water with children, be qualified in First Aid and CPR and also possess the relevant industry qualifications. These include being a Swim Australia or Austswim Teacher and having a Water Safety certificate.
The spokesman said further details on the requirements needed to apply are available from Council with applications due to close on December 21.
