Residents from Milperra and surrounding areas are being encouraged to visit a new photographic exhibition on show at the Bankstown Bus Interchange.
The innovative exhibition has been mounted by the Bankstown Youth Development Service and Bankstown Arts Centre, and features the work of photographer Chris Woe.
The ways in which business proprietors are employing environmentally conscious methods into everyday operations is highlighted in the photographic display, which is part of the ‘This is My Backyard’ Art Centre sustainability project.
Local businesses offering a range of services, including photography and digital printing, are taking part to illustrate the importance of sustainability in all industries.
Business owner Samuel Rajasuriar said if more people followed simple recycling practices, their actions would become more common and lead to a cleaner future for the next generation.
He said making a habit of doing a few small things each day will not only benefit the budget, but also save the waterways and environment.
His words were supported by Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour, who said it was hoped the exhibition would bring a new awareness to residents and business owners of their environmental impacts.
Learning how other such as business owners take positive actions to safeguard the environment, he said, could benefit many others within the community.
The Bankstown Arts Centre’s new Bus Stop Gallery is available for viewing at the bus interchange located next to the Bankstown Station.
