A new super ambulance station is heading for the Bankstown area, with site clearance works set to begin shortly.
Residents from within the Bankstown City Council area of New South Wales, including Bankstown, Revesby, East Hills and Milperra, are ideally placed to benefit from the establishment of the station.
Jillian Skinner, State Health Minister, said the new station would be based on Canterbury Road on a site purchased by the NSW Government.
The move, she said, was in conjunction with the government's $150m five-year strategy to provide facilities for NSW ambulance services into the future.
The Bankstown station will be a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility that the Health Minister believes will improve response times and, ultimately, serve patients and paramedics better.
She said the NSW Government employed top paramedics who deserved world-class facilities to effectively carry out their important work each day.
East Hills MP Glenn Brookes said one of the most important aspects of the new station would be to help doctors to attend to call-outs as quickly as possible.
Construction is expected to begin at the end of the year.
Skinner said the ambulance station would be one of the first built in Sydney's metropolitan area in 20 years. Details of the new facility could be featured in professional postcard and brochure printing in the future.
