Printing services have been busy preparing for the rolling out of the 2016 Seniors Week activities and events.
According to Mayor of Bankstown Khal Asfour, tickets for everything from the Seniors Concert Spectacular to special seniors’ tours have traditionally been in big demand by residents from throughout the area, including Milperra.
Mayor Asfour said this year’s events Catalogues will include coach trips to the southern seaside suburb of Wollongong. The tours will also feature a visit to Bulli Tops’ Panorama House for lunch – a venue often promoted on tourist Brochures.
Bus trips such as this often sell out within hours of tickets being released, according to the Mayor, who said the Bulli Tops day out was expected to be just as popular.
The annual Seniors Week programme is considered an important event by the Mayor, who said it provided an opportunity to thank older members of the community for the vital role they play.
Bankstown Sports Club will host the Seniors Concert Spectacular on April 3 in the ballroom.
Celebrations, to continue through until April 8, will also include an informative walking visit to Mirambeena National Park, workshops focusing on Gardening for Everyone at Revesby Workers Club, various library activities, tennis coaching clinics and social matches, activities such as a Young At Heart Film Festival and Salsa for Seniors, and a seniors golf tournament to be held on the Sefton Golf Course.
