The 2020 Seniors Festival is providing activities and top entertainment in a programme aimed specifically at senior residents in Milperra and throughout the Canterbury-Bankstown area.
This year’s event takes the ‘Love to Celebrate’ theme and in an effort to encourage community seniors to live connected and active lives, will see activities stretched across the entire month of February.
Day trips for seniors to Shellharbour on February 18, 19 and 20 will be among a packed programme of events, which Mayor Khal Asfour said has been organised to thank senior members of the community for the vital role they play in everyone’s lives.
The mayor said that while the Shellharbour trip is available at a cost of $20 each, many other events are free throughout the festival, including classes in salsa dancing each Wednesday between 10am and midday at the Bankstown Arts Centre. Events such as this taking place in the city are often advertised using poster printing services.
The packed programme also offers a Native Garden scenic walk at Sylvan Grove, classes in Tai Chi each Tuesday from 10am to 11am at the Indoor Sports Centre, a movie event featuring Australia’s Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman, aqua aerobics on Monday and Tuesdays and workshops focused on Garden Art.
A special seniors concert to be held on February 23 will complete the 2020 festival.
