A forum will be run this month for older Australians to participate in the latest findings on research into ageing.
The day will be presented by The Age Lab from the MARCS Institute of Brain, Behaviour and Development. Research gathered by PhD students will be presented and issues surrounding learning and healthy ageing will be discussed.
A particular focus will be on the importance of engaging older Australians in community activities, with Professor Chris Davis speaking on making connections. Dr Mark Antoniou will be discussing the benefits to older people of learning a new language, whilst Dr Jennifer MacRitchie will speak about the advantages of playing a musical instrument. An open discussion will also be held with the audience later in the day.
The Community Engagement Forum For Older Adults is being held in a bid to create opportunities for further engagements between Western Sydney University and the wider community and is being organised by the MARCS MultiSensory Communications (MSC) Group. Events such as this can be advertised through the use of poster or flyer printing. Lunch will be provided on the day.
The forum will be held in Building 1, Level 1 of the Western Sydney University in Milperra on Wednesday 10th July. Registration will be open from 10:30am and entry to the forum is free.
