Trainees accepted under the City’s Trainee, Apprentice and Graduate (TAG) Programme will be able to work four days each week.
Each person will also receive essential workplace skills and have access to a selection of development and learning tools, with interview skills among them.
The programme, according to Administrator Richard Colley, will give young people who participate an exceptional array of opportunities. He said:
“The programme offers a dynamic work environment, on-going professional development, supportive on-the-job training and competitive entry salary.
“By the end of the 12-24 months, candidates will have come a long way professionally, as well as becoming a competitive candidate to receive a permanent role within Council.”
Colley said the TAG programme has been benefiting young people for some time. Previous participants, such as Celestial Perez who took part in 2015, secured a full-time role with council in its Customer Service area, where she has learned everything from dealing with clients to organising printing services.
Perez said the traineeship was an ideal path to follow in her efforts to enter the workforce and enabled her to earn while learning.
Anyone interested in being considered for the TAG programme has until September 30 to apply, with successful candidates due to start work in January 2018.
