Regular meetings for business owners in Milperra and throughout the Bankstown Council area are back on the agenda with the recent announcement that a business chamber is to return.
The new chamber, which will include the areas of Milperra, Bankstown, Bass Hill, East Hills, Georges Hall, Condell Park, Padstow, Revesby and Panania, has been initiated by Wally Mehanna who is a business development manager and former small business owner.
Mr. Mehanna said research had identified a real need for a business chamber to service the area, which is recognised as south west Sydney’s hub of small and industrial businesses.
He said the registration and set up of the new chamber was moving slowly, although a membership drive was expected to begin by early August.
This, he added, was to allow organisers to deliver an entity that was effective and strong for local business and provide them with an outlet to discuss everything from marketing services to Signs.
The formation of the business chamber came about following a recent meeting between Mr. Mehanna and other local identities including Philip Lacovou, Mounzer Boustany, George Germanos, Matthew Fisher and Glen Waud.
According to Mr. Mehanna, initial talks focused on incorporating the chamber to service the entire local government area of Canterbury Bankstown.
However, he said, after much discussion it was decided to focus on Bankstown’s south west area only, which was more manageable and practical.
