Top flight cricket for Melbourne this Christmas

There is still time for Clifton Hill residents to get a ticket for the annual Boxing Day Test match and enjoy some top level cricket over the festive period.

The Boxing Day test is a favourite fixture on the Australian cricket calendar, and this year the opponents at the Melbourne Cricket Ground will be the West Indies, who are coming off a series loss to Sri Lanka.

The West Indies squad features well-known players Jason Holder, Darren Bravo, and Marlon Samuels, but will be without big hitter Chris Gayle.

The Melbourne match is the second in the three test series, where the West Indies will be looking to win their first match against the side since 2003 and their first test in Australia since 1997. The other tests will be played in Hobart and Sydney

The series will also be another test for a new-look Australia side following the retirements of big name players like Michael Clarke and Mitchell Johnson.

Fans could use banner printing to show their support for either side, or for their favourite player, with the best often being shown during the television coverage.

The test runs from Saturday, December 26 to Tuesday, December 29, with tickets currently still available for each day. More information about the tour and tickets can be found on the Cricket Australia website.
