The Hills Shire Council 2019 Australia Day celebrations will be held at Bella Vista Farm and residents of Castle Hill, Box Hill, Baulkham Hills, Rouse Hill and all other suburbs in the shire are invited to attend.
The Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year and Community Group of the Year awards will all be presented.
Council is hoping that plenty of residents will join in the celebrations and are calling for community groups and commercial food stall operators to come along and add to the flavour of the day. It is also engaging local performers in music or dance to take the stage to entertain the crowd.
Bella Vista Farm, on Elizabeth Macarthur Drive, is a farm that was established early in Australia’s colonial history. In 1998, it was transferred to the ownership of Hills Shire Council, which has completed extensive conservation work on the site.
The verandas of the two-storey homestead have been reinstated and the kitchen block restored. There are walking tracks and interpretive signage so visitors can learn more about this historical site while enjoying some exercise. Open days are held on the first Sunday of each month. Historical sites such as this often use brochure printing to convey information to visitors.
The celebrations will begin at midday and continue through to 9pm on 26th January. Entry to the event is free.
