Castle Hill’s Norwest Marketown shopping centre could be replaced with high rises, some reaching 40 storeys, if a proposed redevelopment gets the green light.
The Hills Shire Council is considering a proposal by developer Mulpha Norwest that advocates a mixed-use development in Century Circuit that features nine slender towers reaching four to 40 storeys in height and including 1056 dwellings.
In the proposal Mulpha Norwest stated the plans represent part of the company’s aim to transform the business park into a `beacon for innovation’ together with connected infrastructure servicing a thriving community.
Digital printing of the proposed design, as captured in an artist’s impression, brings the proposal to life including the plaza and its place within the Norwest Marketown redevelopment proposal.
As part of the plans, the developers seek to have the 4.4-hectare site rezoned and also an increase in the maximum height of buildings from 116m to 242.8m to allow for the 40 storey developments.
In addition to residential units, the proposal advocates 26,000sqm to be dedicated to retail including supermarkets and a further 84,000sqm for office space, leisure activities and community meeting points.
The development application also includes changes to traffic conditions in Norwest Boulevard with traffic lights proposed to be introduced on the corners of Brookhollow Ave and Norwest Blvd and also Century Circuit and Norwest Blvd.
If approved, the area’s redevelopment will include a up to 3400 new car parking spaces.
