Plans for showgrounds future on display

Residents of The Hills Shire are being urged to express their views on the Draft Master Plan for the Castle Hill Showground, which is currently on exhibition.

The opportunity follows earlier community engagement that took place late in 2019. The process attracted almost 1,000 comments, which were then used to help inform as part of preparation of the Master Plan.

Representing a vision for the next 30 years, the Master Plan is now available for viewing and further feedback. A graphic design to help visualise the various elements often accompanies public exhibitions such as the Castle Hill Showground plan, which supports those already using the facility plus a variety of leisure, sporting, arts and community activities.

The Hills Shire Mayor Michelle Byrne said there was a rich history attached to the Showground, which has been servicing the local area for 150 years and added:

“This is an evolution for the Showground - building on the current facilities but looking to encourage new opportunities at this site. It has to have the right mix of elements to suit our current and future generations.”

The Draft Master Plan focuses on six areas on the site - the Paddocks, Terraces, Icon, Village, Arena and Promenade - and it will be available for viewing until February 14. To learn more about the Draft Plan or to leave a comment go to The Hills Shire Council website.
