A decision on a proposal to expand Bella Vista’s Norwest Private Hospital, near Castle Hill, is still to be determined.
The future of the $53m project, for which plans were first revealed four years ago, is now in the hands of the New South Wales Planning Department.
Plans for the expansion have undergone modifications twice since 2014, during which time consultation has taken place between Transport for NSW, Heritage Council, Sydney Water, the Environmental Protection Agency, and The Hills Shire Council.
Graphic design related to the project is currently being exhibited and show the expansion to include the addition of another storey, along with parking and access alterations.
Also planned in the application put forward by Healthscope Operations is the introduction of a west wing to be located above the car park on the ground floor, plus minor expansion on five levels of the hospital’s internal configuration and the building envelope that lies above the current ambulance bay.
Incorporated in the expansion would be the establishment of a 55-bed unit for inpatients and internal fit-outs. These are proposed to include a separate wing that would be linked to operating theatres already existing, as well as an additional five operating theatres and a patient recovery suite to cater for 32.
The expansion plans have been supported by The Hills Shire Council and no objections were raised by the NSW Heritage Council.
