New look community facilities reopen

Castle Hill's community centre, Pioneer Theatre and library have reopened following recent renovations.

Closed for the two-month duration of the upgrades, the venues now offer a new lift and a new-look library. Hills Shire Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne said the works have not only enhanced the venues, but have also improved accessibility. She said the new lift makes travelling between different levels, including the Pennant Street complex car park, much easier, and she added:

“We’ve recarpeted, sanded and resealed the floors inside the library, as well as painted and remodelled the customer service area. The customer service desk is my absolute favourite and was made from recycling parts of the old counter.”

With the venues once again open, Byrne urged residents to return and use all the facilities, including a full stock of resources and Books in the library and entertainment programmes in the theatre.

Flyer printing campaigns have often helped to alert residents to new and upgraded facilities, like those now available at the community centre, theatre and library.

The reopening of the Pioneer Theatre saw patrons enjoy Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, which was presented by Blackout Theatre, while in the library, the event known as In Conversation has returned.

On May 27, library patrons will also have an opportunity to join a question-and-answer event, hosted by Byrne with Nicola Moriarty, a local author. Tickets are $7.50 each.
