Hills Relay for Life preparations ramp up

Momentum is building for this year’s Hills Relay for Life, which was officially launched at Castle Hill’s Event Cinemas recently.

Attended by an estimated 200 people, the launch of one of The Hill’s biggest annual events was the first step in a series of planned activities to be held in an effort to spread the word and encourage other members of the community to take part in the relay in May.

Chairwoman of Hills Relay for Life Lynne Pike said the relay is an opportunity for everyone to create their own team with friends for a healthy and enjoyable outdoor activity.

She said the event is on the Calendars of many friendship and community groups, businesses, and schools with 2017 registrations already received raising $30,000.

Pike said The Hills district has always been a great supporter of the event, with many participants adding to their relay teams each year and business organisations showing great generosity.

The Hills Relay for Life, to be held at the Castle Hill Showground on May 20 and 21, will include many events, including a fightback field which will involve activities run by major sponsors to promote healthy eating and fitness. Several events will be held in the run-up to the major event to raise money for the Cancer Council, including bowling, trivia quizzes and a ball.
