Food fanatics in Castle Hill looking to update their knowledge of the culinary arts of Japanese culture will get their chance in the new year at an upcoming event in Sydney.
The class will cover how to create balanced meals and understand the most common types of Japanese seasoning. It will also show attendees how to prepare authentic rice and make a traditional vegetarian stock (dashi). Other classic dishes will be taught including Miso Soup, tempura with dipping sauce, teriyaki and the traditional dish known as salad gomae.
Celebrity chef Yoshiko Takeuchi will lead participants through skilled demonstrations. Takeuchi has over two decades of experience in the industry: as well as writing two popular cookbooks, he has cooked in some of Sydney’s most famous restaurants, as well as appeared on the TV show “The Biggest Loser”.
Instruction on basic knife skills will also be included in this comprehensive class.

The Japanese Cooking Class for beginners will be held at O'Uchi on Sunday, February 18, and the restaurant can be found at 80 Clarence Street in Sydney. The class will start at 10am and run until 12.30pm.
