Celebrate close to home on New Years Eve

Castle Hill residents will be treated to a spectacular fireworks display, presented by The Hills Council, to welcome in the 2018 New Year.

The event will represent a new direction for the Council, which will host the display for the first time.

Last year, residents and visitors gathered in Main Street to watch the Sydney Harbour fireworks on the big screen.

Mayor Yvonne Keane said families wanting to enjoy local celebrations will now be provided with a great alternative, explaining:

“Mums, dads and kids feel it’s no longer an option to go to the CBD, wait in long transport queues and cram into crowded public spaces for a glimpse of the fireworks.”

She said it was an enormous pleasure to be able to put on such a great New Year’s Eve celebration so close to home.

Legend of Australia music Ian Moss, a successful solo artist and founding member of Cold Chisel, will feature on flyer printing for the event, along with a host of fellow performers.

In addition to the fireworks and entertainment on New Year’s Eve, the festive season will see The Piazza host a giant Christmas tree outside.

Visitors to the shopping sector will also be able to enjoy musical presentations by local groups.

Council is also considering an expansion of Christmas cheer and activities to neighbouring Rouse Hill with plans to illuminate several key areas in the town centre with Hills-based themes.
