Castle Hill to celebrate Victorian-era Christmas

Residents of Castle Hill have a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience a Victorian-era Christmas celebration like no other.

Throughout the month of December, the National Trust of Australia will be transforming the Old Government House into a traditional Christmas wonderland from a bygone era.

Once serving as a boarding house for new immigrants, the Old Government House was originally the site of many Christmases for many newcomers to New South Wales, who would have longed for European traditions from the holiday season. Through a range of historically accurate decorations and ornaments, complete with the traditional Christmas tree and carols, attendees will be transported back in time and witness how the festive season was once celebrated. Community-based exhibitions and events such as this can benefit from flyer printing to advertise key details to local residents.

For those who make the journey back in time, they will also be invited to contribute to the display by crafting their own snowflake to be added to the walkway display. Children will also have the chance to make their own Christmas lanterns to take home. Participants will also be able to partake in the food options available via the venue’s in-house restaurant.

The National Trust of Australia will be running A Magical Victorian Christmas at Old Government House on Parramatta Park on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from December 4th to December 19th. Tickets are currently available online.
