Teenagers in Castle Hill wanting to try their hand at producing electronic music are invited to attend an upcoming workshop to learn the basics.
The Generation Electronika workshop – a joint initiative between the Hills Shire Council Library and the council’s Community Development Teams – is suitable for participants in school grades 7 to 12, and no previous experience or knowledge of music is required.
The workshop will be run by facilitators of the Information + Cultural Exchange's New Age Noise Collective, a group of young people working to profile and showcase artists from the area of Western Sydney.
The three-hour session will demonstrate the basics of creating loops and beats, and participants will use Ableton Live software to do so. The workshop will also give participants the ability to begin creating and experimenting with their own electronic tracks.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, Generation Electronika will be a COVID-safe event, and participants will be required to have temperature checks and use sanitiser upon arrival at the venue.
Music producers may use poster printing services to advertise their artists and recent releases in locations such as clubs and outdoor events.
The next workshop will be held on Tuesday, January 12 from 1pm until 4pm. It costs $5 and bookings are essential as numbers are limited. For more details and to book, see the Hills Shire Council website.
