Workshop facilitator, Margaret Mossakowska, is holding the workshop only for people living in The Hills Shire and the workshop offers an opportunity for gardeners and home cooks to learn how to reduce the amount of organic waste produced in the home.
The online workshop will cover the basics of composting right through to in-depth looks at the different types of composting and what might work best for different types of gardens.
Mossakowska said types of composting covered will include:
“cold and hot composting in small bins or large compost bays; trench composting (otherwise known as the lasagna method); no-dig gardening; animal manure disposal; worm farms and worm towers”.
Soil fertility will also be discussed and how best to use plants and minerals to increase garden fertility. Workshop participants will also learn to make compost tea, a variety of compost accelerators and how to make biochar – a charcoal with many benefits for healthy soil.
Many local government organisations often use printing services such as graphic design to create interest in upcoming workshops and events to be held in the region.
The workshop will begin at 7pm on Wednesday, September 2 and more details are available on the The Hills Shire Council website.
