Castle Hill, New South Wales’ annual Orange Blossom Festival will be held at the same time as the Cross Country Challenge, which is being staged for the first time this year.
Funds raised at the fun run, to be held at Bella Vista Farm, will benefit a number of local charities including the Lisa Harnum Foundation’s domestic violence service.
A spokesman for the Castle Hill Rotary Club, which is conducting the run, said participants will be able to select from their choice of three events on the racing Catalogues, including a 10.5km distance for experienced runners, a fun run over 7km, or a 2.5km course for family groups and walkers.
The events, he added, have been designed to cater for all fitness levels, with the community spirit of the day being the key area of interest.
He said it was hoped the event will achieve similar success to that experienced by The Hills News M2 Run For the Hills, which raised $26,000 and attracted 500 participants in 2013.
Those taking part are being urged to help fundraise by collecting sponsors. The spokesman said entrants can also use the website of the event to host a profile page.
The Cross Country Challenge will be run at Bella Vista Farm on September 10th. Meanwhile, the Orange Blossom Festival, which incorporates the Crestwood Fair, will be held at the Castle Hill Showgrounds.
