Bestselling author to coach young writers in Castle Hill

Budding young writers are invited to learn from a leading author in Castle Hill next month.

Author Jacqueline Harvey will be running two workshops at Castle Hill Library in July to help youngsters develop their writing skills.

Jacqueline is best known as the author of the Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose Books, which follow the adventures of two young girls and have been nominated for several awards.

She tasted creative success as a teenager herself upon winning a writing competition, but did not begin in earnest until after her 20-year career as a teacher and deputy head teacher.

The workshops will cover a number of different aspects of writing, including character development, constructing a plot and writing realistic dialogue. Jacqueline will also talk about the publishing process, and how young authors could develop a writing career.

Keen writers could ask a printing company to produce several bound Copies of their work to share with family, or even to send to publishers in the hope it may be well received.

The workshops, which cost $13.50, are aimed at children in school years three to seven. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 8th, with the first session from 10am to 11am and the second from 11.30am to 12.30pm. Bookings are open now and must be made in advance via the library website.
