The Hills Shire Mayor Michelle Byrne said applications were now open for the council’s Community Grants Programme, which offers funding from between $1,000 to $15,000. She added:
“The aim of this initiative is to assist community groups and organisations in delivering a diverse range of services and programmes that support, connect and improve our residents’ lives.”
She said the grants are an opportunity for Council to help support the groups and the vital work they undertake within the Hills district, particularly as population numbers rise. Applications are being invited in two categories, Cultural Grants and Community Services Grants.
The cultural grants are to support activities, events and projects that encourage participation by community members, community engagement and social inclusion, while also enabling the delivery of cultural, artistic and creative projects with the community. Many of these projects are often marketed using flyer or brochure printing services.
The Community Services Grants are provided to encourage specific groups in the community to implement and develop projects or programmes that improve access to services, build partnerships, address social needs and increase services for those living in the Hills District.
Potential applicants have until 5pm on October 31 to apply. Further information and guidelines associated with eligibility criteria for those wishing to apply are available on the council website.
