The upgrade will see the introduction of rapid transit for commuters travelling between Dee Why and Chatswood.
Mayor Regan described the move as a ‘game changer’ for those who work within the corridor saying it will improve journey times and encourage motorists to leave the car home. He said another big advantage was that it will make sure that a viable public transport system was established prior to the development planned for Frenchs Forest.
The Frenchs Forest plans are at the Precinct Planning stage, which will involve the use of printing services to prepare relevant details for exhibition and public comment. Mayor Regan explained:
“The B-Line has proved that if you build it, they will come. Its popularity on the city commute shows how successful the east-west link is likely to be. And with the commuter car park at the PCYC already operational, it’s a no brainer to get this in place as soon as possible.”
The Mayor said this latest innovation was something the Council had been advocating for many years but its voice had been amplified following the relatively recent amalgamation that saw the formation of the Northern Beaches Council.
