Residents of Dee Why, Brookvale and surrounding areas are in the box seat to see the transformation of the town centre.
A bustling, vibrant new town centre in Dee Why has been depicted in artists’ impressions released on video by Northern Beaches Council.
The footage reveals streetscape and road upgrades, together with increased parking, and announces work on phase one is already underway.
The video depicts a number of streetscape improvements, including seating, garden beds, trees and lighting along Pittwater Road, and Oaks and Howard Avenues.
Dee Why Parade is currently the focus of the first round of streetscape and drainage works, according to the Council video.
Pathways are also under construction and the installation of water play jets, an irrigation tank and lighting fixtures in Walter Gors Park, which is often featured on local Postcards, have also been finalised.
A total of 110 mature trees will be planted as part of the upgrade. In addition, the installation of table tennis tables, synthetic grass and a lighthouse play construction have also been completed.
According to the video, incoming private developments will add 450 car parking spaces to the new town centre, which will also benefit from planned infrastructure improvements, including better paths.
A new pedestrian-friendly plaza in Redman Road is also depicted on the video as an attractive shopping strip, ideally placed to make the most of the new environment.
