The small business package offers $5,000 to $10,000 grants, as well as deferrals of payroll tax for employers. The programme, known as Dine & Discover, will also be extended until 31 August, with vouchers available for use for takeaway cuisine delivered to homes.
Mayor of the Northern Beaches Michael Regan commented that previous financial support has succeeded in helping to keep small business doors open and jobs safe, and the latest package will assist many that are struggling. He added:
“Council has invested more than $2.7 million in business support since the onset of the pandemic through the waiving of fees and charges and helping build online capacity.”
Regan said a further $2.2 million had been allocated for licensees of council facilities and sports fields that had experienced hardship financially from closures mandated by the government.
The mayor said a phone service to support businesses has also been established, while in an effort to help take-away outlets, a five-minute pick-up zone has been implemented.
Spreading the word about support packages such as this for small businesses has often been undertaken through flyer printing campaigns, media reports and council websites.
Applications for the latest grants on offer are expected to open at the end of July.
