The Burdekin Association uses industry-leading and innovative support practices to assist in guiding youth aged 12-24 to adulthood. The organisation was among many to benefit from the latest round of grant funding across the northern beaches.
The creativity and arts community accessed the grants for a wide array of activities, such as adult workshops for scriptwriting and acting, open microphone evenings at restaurants and bars and the creation of podcasts for visual arts.
Mayor of Northern Beaches Michael Regan was delighted that Council could support and assist so many successful and innovative projects through the grants programme, and added:
“A small subsidy for a project can make a real difference to individuals and community-based organisations which may have not been possible without this grant."
He said that having so many worthwhile projects from which to choose had made the task of the assessment panels extremely difficult. The grants can assist in many ways, including funding flyer printing campaigns to boost awareness of activities available throughout the community.
All successful grant recipient projects, which have obtained funding of up to $10,000 for community development, $5000 for the environment and $5000 for creativity and arts or $10,000 for groups, will be required to be completed by New Year's Eve 2023.
