Glen Street Theatre is set to stage an unforgettable soul-baring and hilarious autobiographical journey that will take audiences from Brookvale and throughout the Northern Beaches on one woman’s journey from illness to recovery.
The production of ‘Red’ will blend song, the spoken word, film and dance and feature award-winning performer Liz Lea whose performance is expected to create both tears and laughter.
Endometriosis, which affects the reproductive organs of an estimated one in 10 females worldwide, is at the core of the production as is Liz’s own personal battle with the disease. The condition and its Signs were largely ignored by Liz throughout her career as a dancer until it could not be dismissed any longer.
Liz Lea’s story is at the heart of the production but it will also address the bigger picture and the themes that emerge while battling the illness and the road to recovery. In presenting Red, Liz would like to see audience members reflect on their own personal general self-care, adding:
“For 20 years I had an illness I was not aware of and for those 20 years I travelled and toured, performed and created. That illness did not define me or my life; however, it has defined my future.”
The production of Red has been promoted via media and printing services in many major cities in which it has appeared including Liverpool, England.
Red will feature at the Glen Street Theatre on March 8 and 9.
