Top works from the community arts competition could go on to feature in the 2019 Manly Arts Festival to be held throughout September. Participating entrants may also be in line to see their individual works included in a printed anthology.
Mayor of Northern Beaches Michael Regan stated that works from the competition, together with accompanying art is set to be available for public viewing via digital screening during the Arts Festival at all the council’s libraries and the Manly Art Gallery and Museum. Competitions and events such as this often draw entrants through poster printing and online campaigns.
Mayor Regan also explained:
“The artworks will illustrate the book alongside the words and the original artworks will be displayed in libraries across the Northern Beaches. The Manly Arts Festival attracts over 15,000 visitors annually and our six Northern Beaches Libraries have 177,746 members, together representing a huge audience for any aspiring artist or writer.”
Writer Zena Shapter, who has won many awards, will be mentor of the collaborative and inaugural Art & Words Project which is supported by Manly Art Gallery and Museum and the Northern Beaches Library Service.
Entries for the Art and Words Project 2019 will close on March 15 at 5pm. Further information is available at the Council’s website.
