Council to release guide for event planning

How to deliver, stage and manage events held in Brookvale and across the Northern Beaches is the focus of a new guide recently adopted by Northern Beaches Council.

Described by Mayor of the Northern Beaches Michael Regan as the community's lifeblood and an important way of connecting the community, instilling civic pride and bringing the area's people together, events are also a great economy booster. There are, he said, hundreds of venues and locations to put on everything from food festivals and markets to concerts and fun runs. He added:

β€œThe Guide to Events on the Northern Beaches will support third party operators along with community groups, providing an outline to deliver safe and successful events that not only meet their objectives, but also those of the Northern Beaches Event Strategy 2018-2023.”

Regan said the 35-page guide will provide useful contacts, quick tips, information on how to plan an event – or make an application to council to stage it – and points to consider when organising, as well as offering event planners template documents. Types of approvals and permits required will also be included in the guide.

Poster printing campaigns have often been used to help advertise events held throughout the Northern Beaches, and not all require development consent, which is an area the mayor said is being further explored by the council.

A list of venues available for events can be found on council's website.
