Community invited to shape future of Brookvale

Community feedback is being invited on a proposed plan that sets out Brookvale's future.

The draft structure plan aims to inject vibrancy into the precinct and help stimulate employment growth in creative, industrial and professional sectors. It also seeks to boost green and community spaces, make improvements along Pittwater Road and advocates for housing options that are more diverse. In 2017, when first released, the draft plan also identified a requirement for greater transport and traffic analysis which has been reflected in the latest revised plan.

Over a 15-year time frame the revised plan, which divides the suburb into five distinct sub-precincts, has been structured to help provide the Northern Beaches with more housing and jobs ranging from 1,300 new homes, a community centre and facilities in a new town square, as well as 975 jobs to a brand-new town centre located in close proximity to the B-line stop. Brookvale residents could also benefit from improved bike and pedestrian connectivity.

Ray Brownlee, Northern Beaches Council CEO, said the draft plan seeks to keep Brookvale's diverse character while also facilitating the growing need for housing, creativity and arts studios, industrial space and local jobs.

Flyer printing campaigns have often helped to spread the word about opportunities like this one to have a say on council draft plans.

Community feedback of the Brookvale Structure Plan is open until 28 February 2023.
