Central Coast Mariners set sights to play home game at Brookvale Oval

Brookvale, New South Wales, has been named as one of two locations targeted to host a home game for the Central Coast Mariners next season.

Subject to approval by the Football Federation of Australia (FFA), the team plans to bring games to both North Sydney Oval and Brookvale Oval, although it was confirmed that Gosford on Sydney’s Central Coast would continue to be their primary home ground.

Confirmation on venues, dates and opposition has not yet been announced, but the Mariners plan to play at least 11 games in Gosford and up to two in Sydney’s north as part of the team’s strategic push into the area.

Mariners Chief Executive Bruce Stalder said negotiations with stakeholders had already begun, and two A-League games were considered ample for the purpose of establishing a presence in the region.

Prior to gaining approval, it is expected the Mariners will be required to submit a long term plan of their strategy to the FFA.

A Federation spokesman said a strategic plan together with business plan were a prerequisite for the proposal to be considered.

Once confirmed, the popular sporting event is certain to attract great interest, with potential marketing strategies including club mail outs and professional flyer printing – both of which will ensure a big turnout on the day.
