What's Happening in Sugar Land, TX…

Sugar Land welcomes Santa next month

The holiday season will be ushered in at the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in a couple of weeks.

The event will have plenty of activities along City Walk Drive, such as face painting, and everyone will be invited to make holiday crafts. Local choirs will be performing, as will local musicians and dance companies. Food and beverage vendors will be selling traditional holiday treats such as hot chocolate and cookies.

At dusk, families and friends will gather in the midst of Town Square Plaza around the 40-foot Christmas tree where Mayor Zimmerman will lead the countdown to lighting the tree. The lights will “direct” Santa and Mrs. Claus to Sugar Land Town Center to bring in the holiday season.

Photos can be taken with Santa after he and Mrs. Claus make their grand entrance. Many families will be taking the photos to their local printing companies to have copies made into holiday cards.

Sugar Land Tree Lighting will be Thursday evening, December 7, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on the steps of City Hall at City Hall Plaza in Sugar Land Town Square, 15958 City Walk, Sugar Land. There will be limited parking in the plaza and everyone is asked to make use of the free shuttles that will be running from 16403 Lexington Boulevard at Mercer Stadium.
