Sugar Land runs with Santa for charity
The 2nd annual WOSP 5K will get Sugar Land runners out for the first run of the New Year in late January.
The $35 registration includes finisher tee shirts sporting the event’s logo design. Race participants may register until January 21 at noon. The course will be a predominantly flat and easy pedestrian pathway.
Proceeds will go to Poland’s Wielka Orkiestta Swiatecznej Pomocy, a non-profit organization that raises money for specialty diagnostic equipment for pediatric ophthalmology services in Poland. Those not wishing to race but who still want to contribute can donate on the event’s website.
WOSP 5K will take place from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Sugar Land Memorial Park, 15300 University Boulevard on January 22.
For fitness enthusiasts wanting to get outdoors before the New Year, Houston’s 12K of Christmas will take place in mid-December. This will be a chance for families to get out meet Santa and his elves and enjoy a Family Walk, Kids K, or a 6K or 12K run.
Virtual or in-person registration for the 6K is $40, $50 for the 12K, and $20 for the in-person Family Walk or the Kids K. Swag includes finisher medals and unisex T-shirts both sporting this year’s Houston’s 12K of Christmas graphic design.
The challenges will all take place at Sam Houston Park, 1000 Bagby Street, Houston on December 18.
