Sugar Land runners to experience marathon at their own pace
The 12th annual USA Fit Marathon, Fort Bend Kia Half Marathon and Simon Spine Family Friendly 5K will take place at the beginning of February. The event usually has around 1,000 runners as a total for all three runs.
The Marathon will have an eight-hour limit, while the Half Marathon will have a six hour-limit on a relatively flat, fast course.
All three races will begin and end on the University of Houston- Sugar Land Campus, 14000 University Blvd. The Marathon and the Half Marathon will be USATF Certified and Boston Qualifiers. Runners in all three races will receive finisher medals as they cross the finish line. Long sleeve pullover shirts with the event logo design or finisher coolers are part of the registration swag.
Those runners that require six or more hours to complete the Marathon course will begin their race at 4:30 am. Hand cyclists will begin the race at 6:20 am and those racers that can finish within six hours will start at 6:30 am. First male and female runners over the finish line in the Marathon will each receive $500.
Hundreds of runners will be lining up for the Half Marathon, which will also start at 6:30 am. The 5K will start after the Half Marathon and follow the first 3.1 miles of the course.
