Sugar Land lets day go to the dogs
All Sugar Land dog lovers will be going to the 4th Annual Doggone 5K Run & 1 Mile Run/Walk and Canine Carnival later this month.
The day will start with a human only chip-timed 5K run. A quarter of an hour later, runners with dogs will begin their 5K. The One Mile Fun Run/Walk will be next, incorporating both dogs and their owners. Awards will be given to the 5K overall winners and in the Masters categories.
After the awards presentation, there will be a Costume contest. Owners of the winning dog will get pictures taken for later poster printing.
After the contest, the Canine Carnival will start. It will be free and have three Houston Dock and Disc Dogs performances, face painting, carnival rides, and games. Guests will also enjoy balloon art, interactive inflatables, and live music presented by local DJs. Local vendors will have food and beverages for sale, and Fort Bend Animal Shelter will bring dogs that can be adopted.
All proceeds will go to Fort Bend Cares. Over $1.5m has been given in grants over the past years, and this year the run is hoping to surpass the $2m mark.
The Race will be at Sienna Village of Sawmill Lake, 9802 Maroon Peak, Missouri City. The Doggone Run event will begin at 7:00 am. The Canine Carnival will begin at 10:00 am at Sienna Plantation.
