What's Happening in Sugar Land, TX…

Sugar Land celebrates Independence Day

Red, White and Boom, Sugar Land’s annual 4th of July celebration, will once again be coming to Crown Festival Park this year.

The free four-hour event will offer patriotic family activities, food from local food trucks, and live entertainment from local talent.

Vendors will be onsite selling red, white, and blue merchandise featuring a patriotic graphic design, such as an eagle, fireworks, flag, or liberty bell. Guests will want to wear their red, white, and blue finest to make the best use of the multiple photo opportunities. Families who have pictures taken at Fourth of July events like this often take the photos to local print shops to have extra copies made.

The evening will end with a brilliant fireworks display launched from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Everyone is invited to bring blankets, canopies, and chairs.

Parking will be limited, and gates will open at 4:00 pm. Those with handicap and other parking permits will get preferential treatment.

A shuttle service will be provided from 4:00 pm to midnight from the University of Houston Sugar Land, 14000 University Boulevard, and Smart Financial Centre, 18111 Lexington Boulevard. Riders should note that the shuttles will not run during the fireworks.

Volunteers are needed for three shifts, each lasting three hours. Drinks and snacks will be provided, and dress should be casual and cool, including close-toed shoes. Mosquito and sun protection is strongly recommended.

The park is located at 18355 Southwest Freeway.
