City of Sugar Land announces two community events

Two events have been scheduled for Sugar Land over May and June.

Next Monday, May 29, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Sugar Land Memorial Park, 15300 University Boulevard, Sugar Land will commemorate local fallen soldiers at our annual Memorial Day Ceremony.

Emceed and presented by Brigadier General Dave Van Kleeck, the program will begin with local dignitaries giving formal tributes. Next the names of veterans who are in the Remembrance Tower will be acknowledged, and the traditional flag observance will end the program at noon.

Some other activities at the venue will include a military flyover, white dove release, military vehicle display, children’s patriotic crafts, and powder fireworks. Vendors will be selling food and drinks.

Next up at Sugar Land Memorial Park, the Parks Event Series will present Food Truck Friday on June 16 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The event will be free, and kids can enjoy face painting and balloon artists. Music will be provided by DJ Yad, and food trucks will be available.

Other events in the series will be Bikes and Brews on August 17 at Brazos River Park, Yappy Hour at Pawm Springs Dog Park on October 19, and Movie Night on November 17 at Oyster Creek Park.

Vendors at events like these often reserve space on their paper products for a local business’s logo design.
