The first Fun Run and Wellness Fair of the Spring Independent School District (ISD) was recently held to help cultivate community spirit and raise money for student scholarships.
The starting point for the run and walk was at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, where there were many vendors with information on promoting wellness and health. The course itself went through the Old Town part of Spring.
There was a three-mile race as well as a special 1.5-mile race in which close to 30 students from the elementary and middle schools in the Spring ISD participated. This race was designed to encourage running among younger people.
Spring ISD Trustees Chris Bell and Justine Durant awarded the medals and ribbons for those who placed in various categories in their respective races. Trustees Donald Davis and Deborah Jensen also attended the event, walking and cheering on other participants. The Westfield Big Red Band provided entertainment during the various races and also drum rolls at the medals ceremony.
Chief communications officer for the district, Tiffany Dunne-Oldfield, commented that this event was a most inspiring one and not only helped to raise money for the students, but was also great fun for everyone who participated.
Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays throughout such school districts so that people learn more about health and wellness and fundraising efforts.
