The Plymouth United Church in Spring will host the Sensory Friendly and Accessible Easter Egg Hunt this April for children of all levels of ability and needs.
The Easter Egg Hunt will be specifically designed to be accessible and sensory-friendly to accommodate all children. There will be an egg hunt outside on a flat driveway to ensure that individuals with wheelchairs will have proper access, as well as one in a large yard area that will meet the requirements of social distancing.
The hunts will be divided into small groups according to ages. There will be a group for children ages 0 to 2, one for ages 3 to 6, and another for ages 7 to 12. Treats will be selected from a list of popular allergen-friendly foods, as well as non-food items. For those with visual impairments, organizers will have balloon-lifted eggs at a comfortable eye level. Parents wishing to help organizers meet the individual needs of their children can email education@plymouthunited.org.
Outdoor children’s events often have different stations set up with Posters to guide the children and provide information in an easy-to-understand medium, and so organizers may decide to seek out local poster printing shops.
The Sensory Friendly and Accessible Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for April 17 at 11:00 am. The Plymouth United Church is located on 5927 Louetta Road, Spring.
