The Spring Pet Festival is a long-running tradition in Spring, and one that has had to be cancelled the last couple years due to extenuating circumstances. This year, however, the festival is planned to return.
The festival is informational as well as fun. One of the primary purposes of it is to educate people about the situation of animals in shelters, and how many animals require homes. The event is hosted by the Old Town Spring Preservation League.
The festival does have a more fun side to it as well, as there will be a number of vendors selling pet-related products and services, as well as live music and food and drinks for the two-legged guests. The festival is designed to celebrate the unique bond between animals and their humans, and is a family-friendly activity.
The Spring Pet Festival has run for over 17 years. In 2017, the festival had to be cancelled because of Hurricane Harvey, and the 2018 event was also shelved as many of the individuals and vendors had been directly and adversely affected by the hurricane. This year, however, organizers hope that the yearly tradition can get back on track.
The festival will be held at Preservation Park, on Midway. There is some parking available nearby, and street parking in easy walking distance. Admission to this event is free. Events like this often benefit from flyer printing, allowing them to advertise to many people and in different places.
This event is currently scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, February 9 and 10, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
