Spring hardware shop to host woodturning class

Next month, Rockler Woodworking and Hardware will be holding its Wooden Pen Turning workshop for any Spring residents interested in learning the basics of woodturning.

Rockler Woodworking and Hardware is a family-owned business that has grown to be one of largest online hardware retailers, with a chain of brick-and-mortar store spanning the US. It not only provides woodworking tools and accessories, but also offers workshops for those wishing to develop their woodworking skills.

The Wooden Pen Turning class will teach attendees woodturning basics by guiding them step-by-step through how to use a wooden lathe to make a custom wooden pen body for a pen hardware kit. The registration fee will include the pen hardware kit and the wooden blank for the pen body. Safety classes and gloves will be provided. Organizers also ask that participants do not wear loose clothing and make sure to roll up long sleeves and tie long hair. Open-toed shoes are not allowed.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, social distancing will be enforced and classrooms and tools will be sanitized after each group of students.

The woodturning class is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Registration is $75, but seating is limited. Workshop events such as this often utilize printing services specializing in brochure printing to provide students with instructional guides.
