This November, Reading Is Revolutionary, a nonprofit based in The Woodlands and Spring area, will hold the first annual Read to Me event, a picture book festival intended to spread the love of reading and of Books to the youth.
Reading is Revolutionary was founded by owner of Village Books, Teresa Kenney, and the festival is intended to celebrate the comforting and joyful experience of being read to as a child. Unlike many other book festivals that focus on genre-specific books or youth and adult books, the picture book festival is designed to appeal to families with very young children who are just taking their first steps into the reading world.
Open to all, the festival will embody a fun, carnival atmosphere with various games and activities, as well as librarian story time. There will be five prominent children’s book authors and illustrators featured at the festival as they read their stories on stage. They are as follows: Christine Almedo, Cate Berry, Lindsay Leslie, Robyn McGrath, and Vanessa Roeder.
Festivals like this often partner with local Print shops specializing in flyer printing to create physical Flyers with which to advertise the event.
The Read to Me Festival is scheduled for November 16 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. It will be held at Deretchin Elementary School, which is located at 11000 Merit Oaks Drive.
