As the board of trustees for the Spring Independent School District (Spring ISD) is considering making attendance boundary changes, a couple of meetings this month will help to elicit feedback from the community.
Information garnered by these community meetings will be brought before the Spring ISD board to be considered when that body works out a plan to even out school attendance. Over the last 10 years, the district’s various attendance zones have experienced a mix of growth and decline, resulting in some school buildings operating beyond capacity, while others have space to spare.
Now is the ideal time to plan changes to attendance boundaries, according to Superintendent Dr. Rodney Watson of Spring ISD, because of the bond program recently approved by voters. Thanks to the passage of that bond issue, all three of the districts’ comprehensive high schools will have an additional middle school and ninth-grade center constructed.
Proposals will be presented to members of the community tomorrow, February 16, at Dueitt Middle School and Wells Middle School and next week on Thursday, February 23 at Bammel Middle School and Twin Creeks Middle School. All meetings are scheduled from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. An online survey has also been launched by Spring ISD and will be available through February 24.
By as early as March, new attendance boundaries could be adopted, providing students a heads-up on what school Logo Design will figure in their future.
