Jennifer Nettles will be headlining the event, and Clare Bowen and Chip Esten from ‘Nashville’, the popular TV show, will be joining her. Annise D. Parker, the mayor, said:
“We are excited because all three of these talented Nashville-based artists have selected Houston as one of their first stops for their solo careers.”
Premiering in October of 2012, ‘Nashville’ has received critical acclaim and has been nominated for ‘Favorite New TV Drama’ in 2013 as well as 2014 at the People’s Choice Awards. Esten plays the role of Deacon Claybourne on the show, while Bowen portrays Scarlett O’Connor. Each artist has had the honor of performing at the Grand Ole Opry in the Ryman Auditorium.
The festivities this year will also include the Walmart All-American Kids’ Zone, which features entertainment for kids and their families; the Southwest Airlines Sky Stage, where aviation enthusiasts can see vintage aircraft performing flyovers; and many other events. Families looking for great snapshots for later postcard printing should be sure to bring their cameras.
The event will take place between 4pm and 10pm on Independence Day.
