What's Happening in Spring, TX…

The Mercer Society received a grant from Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust to replace its utility vehicle which was damaged when Hurricane Harvey struck the area.

Maryanne Esser, TMS President, said the new vehicle will help the society conduct transportation more quickly, as it is able to hold as many as 80 pots with a one-gallon capacity.

After the hurricane devastated the Mercer Botanical Garden last year, volunteers became worried that they may have to cancel the March Mart, which is an annual plant sale hosted for the benefit of Precinct’s 4 Mercer Botanic Gardens. Once the hurricane passed, both volunteers and Mercer staff worked together to recover most of the plant stock.

Although repairs at the park are also being carried out, TMS has scheduled the March Mart to coincide with the grand reopening of the East Side of the Mercer Botanic Gardens, which was closed due to extensive damage.

Members of the public, including those from nearby Spring, are invited to attend the March Mart on Saturday, March 17 and shop from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm in the East Side Gardens. To gain a VIP early access to the sale from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on March 16 or 8:00 am – 10:00 am on March 17, interested persons can purchase a TMS membership.
