Memorial Hermann Ironman stirs up activity in Texas

The grueling Ironman Triathlon presents a challenge to any who will answer the calling in Texas this month.

The Memorial Hermann Ironman will draw a large crowd of fitness aficionados looking to challenge their muscles and mind in the beautiful Texas Woodlands. Just a 10-minute drive from Spring, Texas, this event draws competitors from around the world. The race itself starts athletes off with a swim lasting 2.4 miles through Lake Woodlands. The competitors must then hop on a bike and speed down a 112-mile course through the gorgeous farmland of Texas. To end their long day, the athletes run more than 26 miles to Market Street. Some athletes might not cross the finish line until after dark, but regardless of time, completing the Ironman is an achievement to be proud of for life.

Spectators and those who hope to complete an Ironman later in life are more than welcome to join in the festivities and add a cheering voice to the crowd. Every cheering voice supports not only the athletes, but Memorial Hermann as well.

Founded in 1925, Memorial Hermann is the largest and oldest active hospital in Texas. It is strictly not-for-profit and aids in redefining Texas healthcare to better serve its citizens.

The Memorial Hermann Ironman will take place May 18, kicking off at 7:00 am and running until midnight, concluding a total of 17 exhausting hours of nonstop Ironman racing.
