Holiday event puts a 'spring' in locals' steps

Locals can head to Downtown Spring for a holiday event.

The 35th Annual Home for the Holidays will have holiday exhibits, street performers, entertainment, and yummy treats. For almost a month and a half, guests can enjoy live entertainment from local choirs, carollers, and bell performers.

During the weekend, attendees can visit and take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Main Street. Individuals can also check out poinsettias and other plants that were maintained by Brookwood, a special needs community.

Guests can take a ride on the ‘Be-An-Angel’ train which will go through town and make one stop at Preservation Park. Proceeds from this activity will go to help the Be-An-Angel Foundation, an organization that assists kids with disabilities. Guests are also encouraged to bring an unwrapped children’s gift to one of the collection areas.

The event will kick off with a tree lighting ceremony that features a decorated tree that stands 20 feet tall, music, singing, and a special guest. The event organizers likely used a poster printing service to make Signs to hang up around Downtown Spring.

Home for the Holidays will take place from November 7 through December 20. Typically, live entertainment will take place from noon until 4:00 pm. The tree lighting ceremony will be held on November 7 at 4:00 pm on 210 Gentry Street.
